Frozen NZ Wholeshell Mussel

Wholeshell Ikana Greenshell™ Mussels, freshly harvested from the Pacific Ocean, snap frozen and packed in retail ready packaging.

Snap freezing the shellfish after harvesting preserves the delicious, full flavour for which New Zealand Greenshell™ Mussels are famous.  Always on hand fresh from the freezer, they are the ideal option for creating gourmet dishes on demand. Steam from frozen in just 7-8 minutes.

Ikana French Style Mussels

Method

  • Place oil and chopped onion in a large pot and cook a little to soften.
  • Add white wine, Ikana Mussels and their juice and parsley.  Place lid on pot and cook until mussels are open and cooked.
  • Add cream and stir to coat mussels.
  • Serve in bowls with sauce poured over and hot bread rolls.

Ikana Italian Style Mussels

Method

  • Place onions and garlic in a large pot with a little oil and cook for a few minutes until transparent, then add tomatoes.
  • Add pack of Ikana Mussels and juice from pack and place lid on pot.  Cook for 5-7 minutes or until mussels open.  Shake the pot a few times as they cook, this will help the mussels to open.
  • When cooked, add basil leaves and serve together with spaghetti and crusty french bread.
